No Place Too Far.

There is nothing ordinary about someone who hucks himself off a windswept cornice, braves high altitudes and freezing conditions or climbs to dizzying heights on a sheer wall of granite.

And there is absolutely nothing ordinary about the boots that help take you to those far away places. SCARPA. A worldwide leader in outdoor footwear, SCARPA uses advanced research and technology to help you take the next step. From telemark skiing, alpine touring, mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, alpine cross, climbing and approach shoes, you’ll find a SCARPA boot with precision fit for your adventure. FOR LIVES LESS ORDINARY.

Kitty Calhoun

My name is Kitty Calhoun.  I grew up in N.C. and went to school at UVM to
pursue skiing.  I got tired of standing in lift lines so I took up ice
climbing.  One thing led to another and I ended up becoming an alpinist and
guiding in less developed countries for AAI.  On my time off, I climbed the
Cassin on Denali, Bouchard Route on Chacraraju, West Pillar of Makalu,
attempted a new route on Thelay Sagar, etc, etc.

Now my major motivation is to learn new skills as I push my technical
abilities, on rock and ice.  My more recent ascents include a new route on
Middle Triple Peak, the Diamond on Mt.Kenya, and the Nose and Salathe on El
Cap with other women.  Climbing at my limits keeps me humble.  I am trying
to lose the judgmental attitude and focus instead on my connections with
other people and the environment.

I am an ambassador for Patagonia, guide for Chicks with Picks, and look
forward to time spent with Jay Smith and my son, Grady.  My latest project
is developing a new slide show, "Last Ascents" about routes I've done that
may never see a repeat due to global warming.
